Metro Jetting lock in Cumbria Jack for The Phoenix
The field for this year’s $1.65 million Phoenix is starting to take shape, with Metro Jetting confirming Cumbria Jack as their selected greyhound for the 2025 edition of the world’s richest race.

The field for this year’s $1.65 million Phoenix is starting to take shape, with Metro Jetting confirming Cumbria Jack as their selected greyhound for the 2025 edition of the world’s richest race.
Despite having had just 23 career starts, Cumbria Jack has stamped himself as one of the most best greyhounds in the country with many of his 16 wins coming in barnstorming fashion from back in the field.
For Metro Jetting, the partnership represents a proud moment and an opportunity to be part of Australian greyhound racing’s biggest stage. Their support of the sport and confidence in Cumbria Jack reflects the shared ambition that defines The Phoenix – pairing passionate slot holders with the best greyhounds in the country.
“The Phoenix is a race we’ve wanted to be part of for a long time, and to lock in arguably Australia’s fastest greyhound makes it even better,” said Metro Jetting Director Ben Peart
“He’s already proven himself against some of the best in the country so we couldn’t be more thrilled to have him on board. Bring on December!”
Trained in NSW by Stephen Fitch has already had a successful interstate campaign in Queensland that included breaking The Q2 Parklands 520m track record, winning the G1 National Sprint and being a finalist in the (abandoned) G1 Brisbane Cup.
After recently returning to his native state, ‘Jack’ has rattled off some impressive performances including equalling the Wentworth Park track record and winning the Million Dollar Chase consolation.
His sights will now turn towards The Meadows as he is expected to accept an invitation to nominate for the upcoming G1 Sportsbet Topgun.
The slot holders yet to make the decision on their representative are: Awesome Lodge, David Bourke Constructions, RAM Racing, Sporting Legends, Sportsbet, Tabcorp & Total Container Solutions.
Fans can experience all the excitement of The Phoenix at The Meadows with free entry on Saturday December 13. Dining packages are also on sale now, with packages starting from just $79. Find out more at dreamchasersfestival.com.au.
