Since its debut in 2021, The Phoenix has quickly become one of the biggest nights on the greyhound racing calendar. Holding the title of the world’s richest greyhound race, with a staggering $1.65 million prize pool and $1 million winner’s cheque, the biggest party in greyhound racing is back! The Phoenix returns in 2026 with eight slot holders and some of the country’s best chasers set to put on a show at The Meadows on Saturday December 12. But it’s about more than just the racing. Expect a big night at The Meadows, with plenty of entertainment, hospitality and atmosphere to make The Phoenix a night to remember.

The Phoenix boasts the world’s biggest prize pool in greyhound racing, attracting the sport’s best chasers and challengers. Be there in 2026 to witness who takes the famous trophy and $1 million winner’s cheque. With a 12-race card, including a match race and The Whiskey Riot, there’s plenty more world-class racing throughout the night, all at Australia’s premier greyhound racing venue.

Experience the final night of the Sportsbet Dream Chasers Festival from some of the best seats in the house. The Temlee Dining Room at The Meadows combines panoramic track and city skyline views, grandstand seating and broadcast screens in a modern dining setting. Located in Broadmeadows, The Meadows is one of Victoria’s premier greyhound racing venues, offering a mix of racing, hospitality and entertainment. With a long history in the sport, the venue caters to everyone from regular racegoers to families and first-time visitors, with plenty to see and do both on and off the track.
By Car
The Meadows is located just 12 kms from Melbourne Airport and 20kms from the Melbourne CBD and plenty of FREE onsite parking.
By Train
You can take the Craigieburn line to Broadmeadows station, then taxi, uber or catch the 902 bus to the heart of the action at The Meadows.
By Bus
Another option is to take Bus 902 to the Northcorp Bvd/Camp Rd stop, and it's only a short, convenient stroll to reach The Meadows Racetrack.

Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code if you’re attending General Admission – just dress for the weather! There are some dress requirements in place for the more formal dining spaces.
Is there parking?
Free parking is available on site. Please refer to each event page for more details on parking and directions.

Can I bring my underaged kids?

Gates open at 5:30pm, with the first race around 6:30pm each night.
